"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,"

Ephesians 4:1

According to Harvard Health, walking is considered “the closest thing we have to a miracle drug.” A few benefits of walking include:
  • Improved cardiovascular health
  • Increased energy levels
  • Improved mood
  • Improved memory

  • Lowers the risk of dementia

  • Boosts immune function

Walking is a great way to improve your overall physical health!

While physical health is very important and we should all strive to be better stewards of our “temple” (I Corinthians 6:19), the Bible also tells us in I Timothy 4:8a “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things…” Again, not an excuse to neglect our physical health (it may “profit little” but exercise does still profit!) but Paul is teaching Timothy that our spiritual health is far more profitable.

One of the key components to having a healthy spiritual life is to walk with the Lord daily.

“But how do we walk with the Lord?”, you might ask? Let’s consult The Great Physician and see what His Word has to say!

The Bible tells us to:

  1. Walk Worthy - Ephesians 4:1, Colossians 1:10, I Thessalonians 2:12

  2. Walk Circumspectly - Ephesians 5:15

  3. Walk Honestly - Romans 13:13

  4. Walk After the Lord - Deuteronomy 13:4

  5. Walk in His Statutes - I Kings 8:61, Ezekiel 20:19

  6. Walk Uprightly - Proverbs 2:7, Proverbs 14:2

  7. Walk in Love - Ephesians 5:2

  8. Walk After His Commandments - 2 John 1:6

  9. Walk in the Light - I John 1:7

  10. Walk After the Spirit - Romans 8:4, Galatians 5:16

  11. Walk by Faith - II Corinthians 5:7

  12. Walk in the Old Paths - Jeremiah 6:16

  13. Walk not As Gentiles Walk - Ephesians 4:17

There are so many wonderful benefits that come with cultivating a daily walk with the Lord. Want God to strengthen your heart? Walk with Him! Want to have more energy to face the world, the flesh and the Devil? Walk with Him! Want to be in a better mood and have real peace and joy while living in this sin-cursed world? Walk with Him! Need help remembering all that God has done for you and quit forgetting about all that He has blessed you with? Walk with Him! Want to boost your immunity against falling into temptation? Walk with Him!

If nothing else, walk with the Lord daily because despite our faults and our failures, our holy, precious, Heavenly Father longs to fellowship and walk with us.
